To the Editor, Okay folks. Our English language is a simple one. But sometimes complicated. For example, we use the saying Ain’t Got No. Hmmm. I have nothing would be more effective. Let’s discuss further. In different parts of the country, our language differs in sound...and sayings. In nearby Pittsburgh, you can order a jumbo sandwich, an arn birr on the sath side. To the Editor, As “Columbo” would say, just cleaning up some loose ends to start a new year. If one is wondering whether Adam and Eve procreated, or it took homo sapiens millions of years to give birth to beautiful women. The wait was well worth it. Viva Jennifer Lopez. Why here?

To the Editor, What is there about this valley that attracts the most egregious environmental polluting industries? A hazardous waste incinerator located in East Liverpool a few decades ago. It was sold as “safe” because of cutting-edge technology. Yet, in one year alone, it had 50 illegal emissions into the atmosphere of heaven knows what. At one time we had human excrement shipped in from New York to a local “landfill”- a sanitized word for a garage dump. Again, using the latest in technology to compost it. To the Editor, The Salvation Army of Brooke County wishes to thank and commend the many people who so very generously donated to this year’s Angel Tree Project and Kettle Campaign. For so many years Angel Trees, Red Kettles and bell-ringers have been an important and symbolic part of the Christmas season helping the Salvation Army provide toys and food for needy families. This year, the many people who adopted Angels in Brooke County were more than generous in their selection and amount of toys and clothes for the children. Our community should say stop

To the Editor, As a community, we have endured 100-plus years of air, ground and water pollution. We tolerated this pollution because the industry that created it also created thousands of jobs that built our homes, made our area economically sound and enabled us to send our children to college. We also have endured the loss of thousands of jobs as the industry pursued greener pastures that did not require pollution controls, basically, to where it was cheaper to pollute some other part of the world.
