A tribute to Judith Hamill

To the Editor, Not many times do we hear about teachers that influenced our lives in such a way that they are remembered 56 years later. Judith Hamill was my sixth grade teacher. She was my teacher that year, but my friend until she passed away on Saturday. I came from a big family. There were six children. My dad worked in Weirton Steel. Mrs. Hamill was so aware of that and was not only concerned about me, as her student, but also my brothers and sisters that were younger than I. To the Editor, I don’t understand what Fox News’ big three, Carlson, Hannity and Ingraham, don’t understand about the word secret, like Secret Service. Hancock Commission promised better

To the Editor, Are you happy with the way the Hancock County Commission is operating your animal shelter? When the Hancock County Commission took over operation of the county animal shelter, they promised to operate the shelter better than the nonprofit which previously operated the county shelter for 20 years. To the Editor, This letter is intended to be read to young children. Years ago, while in the 2nd grade at the old Centennial School in the Keweenaw of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, we read a story from an Elson primary reader. This concerned a young boy by the name of Bobby, who was sent by his mother to a neighboring farm to buy three apples.
