The unhinged are in charge

To the Editor, World peace is teetering on a tightrope that’s not too taut because most of the walkers aren’t too tight mentally. Aha! You don’t believe it? Draw a sagging line between two poles and fill in your choice of world leaders. Take a for instance: dictator Vladimir Putin of Russia. He is more of a magician than a world leader. He makes people disappear and now is saying he doesn’t know what happened to them. When the unhinged rule, the world is in trouble. Why Chernobyl? Would Putin tamper with radioactive waste accidentally of on purpose, releasing it to ...

Today’s youth are “soft and weak”

To the Editor, “Cobra Kai,” an enjoyable Netflix series based on the 1980s “Karate Kid” movies, features original cast members Ralph Macchio as Daniel Larusso, and William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence. In the films, Lawrence was the villain; hero LaRusso’s rival, and a violent bully. Now, however, updated to the present, Johnny Lawrence is more sympathetic; a protagonist. He’s shown as a man who’s made poor choices, lost his way, and rather cynical, beaten down by life. Longing for the past and his glory days, Lawrence is inspired to restart the Cobra Kai martial arts ...

Focus on what’s important

To the Editor, The old adage “it ain’t the size of the dog in a fight but the size of the fight in the dog” is playing out on the world stage in Ukraine. However, Ukrainians are not dogs — obviously far from it. The only dog in this fight (and a rabid one at that) is Putin. For anyone, let alone a former president, to suggest this animal is worthy of praise says as much about them as it does Putin. I am a cultural conservative. Much of the democrats’ cultural platform is anathema. How Biden became president is still puzzling. Yet, at this time, under these circumstances, as ...

Play ball anyone?

To the Editor, Since we are at a standstill now, with Major League Baseball and the owners. So what do we do? 1. Have a retired umpire to be a mediator for both sides. 2. Start a semi pro league for men and women. 3. Bring back an all girls league. 4. Start a competitive league that includes hopscotch, Jacks, tiddly winks. And at night, hide and go seek, dodgeball, and touch football. 5. Broadcast Canadian baseball. 6. Promote libraries and start a library club. 7. Cribbage, Euchre, Checkers, Chess, Parcheesi, Sorry, Monopoly clubs start and compete. 8. I’m out of ideas. 9. ...

Build back to greatness

To the Editor, It’s a sad world to think opinion has replaced facts. No matter how evil one might be, that evil person thinks he is right in his evil ways and argues to his dying day he is right. The degree of difficulty when changing laws or writing new laws come when legislators are trying to favor one faction over another. Sen. Joe Manchin’s “no vote” on President Biden’s “Build Back America” should be given a second thought. The first week in February dumped enough snow on your no vote to change your no vote to “Let’s do it, Joe.” America’s ...

Thoughts before November election

To the Editor, Think I’ll take bets for the November election: How many “uncounted ballots” (wink) will the Democrats “find” (wink), how many days after the election? And will the Republicans challenge any of them? That last question is rhetorical. They won’t. The bitter desperation of leftists to make Kyle Rittenhouse a rampaging, violent racist, is boundless. Even after his trial, and acquittal, wherein all pertinent facts came out, there are still shameless liberal media shills pretending his three “victims” (wink) were Black. They were not. All three of his ...
