Expect more of school board candidates

To the Editor, In Hancock County, six candidates are vying to represent “we the people” in the upcoming election for School Board. In the past, little information was available about the candidates’ views on educational issues. In today’s world, I believe that we must understand the candidates’ educational ideology prior to voting. We have seen elected school officials across the Country imposing their values, not the values of the people who have elected them, upon the parents, guardians, children, teachers, staff. To the Editor, Okay folks, Ye Old Groundhog gave us six more weeks of the white stuff, let alone the previous ice storm. A special thanks goes out to the electrical linesmen that brought back our power. Now, what’s in store for spring that is right around the corner? 1. To the Editor, Dr. Martin Luther King His message keeps getting more colossal and intensified every year. “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” If you ever had the feeling you met, heard or read about someone special, King’s speech “I Have a Dream,” and the 35-word excerpt from it made Dr. Martin Luther King very special. To the Editor, Having some fun with the news. It didn’t take Russia long to get indoctrinated to the democratic way. The Russian Putin controls about 300 companies with ties all the way to the president. Look at it optimistically, the good sign Russia is dealing with it through the courts. The CIA reports three rogue countries: Iran, Iraq, North Korea, will have missiles capable to reach American shores, with mass destruction warheads. To the Editor, In October, Capt. Kirk, William Shatner, age 90, finally made it to space for real, as a passenger aboard Jeff Bezos’ rocket, Blue Origin. Celebrity former athlete Michael Strahan has followed. Some dismiss it; publicity stunts, they sniff. So? I say. I’d go in a heartbeat. Some feel the private space race of the three super-billionaires—Bezos, Elon Musk and Richard Branson—is somehow wrong, indicating outrageous levels of inequality and unfairness. EGCC makes big difference

To the Editor, After working at a steel mill for 30 years, my plant shut down and I was faced with the tough question of what to do next. It’s a situation that so many workers across Ohio have been forced to deal with in recent years. I had always wanted to go to college, but because of the financial burden that it would have placed on my family, it had never been in the cards. Fortunately, while working at the mill, I was in a union and after I was laid off, I had the opportunity to work with the Ohio AFL-CIO in the labor movement.
