Trump has another option

To the Editor, If Donald J. Trump wins a second term, we the people deserve whatever kind of discombobulated government we get. When asked, Ben Franklin replied, “We are leaving you a republic, if you can hold it.” Trump’s version of his presidency is “I did it my way.” Forever to be remembered as my way or the highway. Some of the Republican senators are acting like they are being held hostage and in fear of their life for not backing all of his ridiculous, implausible actions and ideas. Climate is a hoax. What is so hard to understand? As long as I have been around ...

Technology, lifestyle not for all

To the Editor, That is ridiculous what’s going on out in Iowa. Go back to the old-fashioned method. That’s the trouble with this modern technology, and then I wonder about the old-fashioned method also. Don’t tell me there isn’t corruption going on sometimes. I can’t believe how warped people’s minds are, to put into office someone of a different status. I can remember when they weren’t recognized, then when they were, they wanted to be given everything. Can you imagine, the first lady a man. Florence Donley Weirton

Thoughts for the 21st century

To the Editor, Welcome to the 21st century. Fracking: We are changing the contour of Earth, leading to grave consequences. 21st century and civilization: New technology is moving at warp speed with no solutions to the basics. What are we to do? Combat the destruction of the planet from plastic straws, to nuclear waste and AI and the garbage in between. Psychology 101 (racism): If one is a racist trying to explain why he is not a racist, it’s proof he is a racist or he would not have to explain why he is not a racist. Black or white, with a nod of the head, people can recognize ...

A bunch of government waste

To the Editor, This is ridiculous with the Senate hearings on TV. They have been going on now for a long time. I’m sick of it, as nothing is going to come of it! That’s the trouble. Our government just takes over everything, without any regard to our citizens. They are just throwing away the taxpayers’ money. It’s just a waste of time. Why don’t they put our money to a good cause? Our government has a lot of waste and nonsense projects they donate to. How about paying our cable bills? That would be a worthy cause. Prepare to see consequences

To the Editor, Recently, I learned that Sen. Joe Manchin is undecided on the matter of impeachment of President Trump. While this may appear to be leadership by many, I find it a bit disturbing. I have contacted Manchin on a number of matters to learn of his opinion but have always been told he is undecided. During the Senate trial, I listened to professor Alan Dershowitz, who spoke eloquently and thoroughly about the debate of the Founding Fathers in adopting the impeachment inclusion in our Constitution. As he told the House managers, “You have chosen the wrong articles to present ...

Constitution is clear

To the Editor, I hear too many supposedly constitutionalists giving the president a blank check on his rights. There are no ifs, buts or maybes in the Constitution. It’s written what the founders decreed as law. Yet today the Alan Dershowitz’s in the judiciary try to imply what the Jeffersons were thinking. Sorry ladies and gentlemen, what the founders thought is in writing. One cannot hint even with a Freudian slip for a foreign country to interfere in our country’s elections. I argue Trump’s impeachment is legitimate and if not convicted, but acquitted, the ...
