STEUBENVILLE — Thursday nights in downtown Steubenville are about to get a lot more entertaining with the Fort Steuben Summer Concert Series returning for its 20th season, bringing music, community and summer tradition to the downtown area. Traffic to be closed on Weir Avenue Saturday

WEIRTON - Traffic will be temporarily closed on Weir Avenue Saturday as part of a water line repair project. The Weirton Area Water Board reports crews will be on scene, beginning at 8 a.m., for a water line repair on Weir Avenue between Baker Street and Kessel Street. As a result, all traffic will be closed on Weir Avenue from South 11th Street to Pennsylvania Avenue until the project is completed. A boil order will be issued following the work for Weir Avenue and all connecting streets.

Shooting suspect arrested

STEUBENVILLE — A Steubenville man is in custody in Pennsylvania and faces charges in connection with a Tuesday evening shooting on Hollywood Boulevard that left another man injured and prompted a multi-agency investigation. Police Chief Ken Anderson said Deonbre Bailey-Anderson, 24, was taken into custody Wednesday with assistance from the Pittsburgh, Allegheny County and Swissvale police departments. Northern Panhandle voter turnout mostly higher than state average

WHEELING — The numbers still weren’t very high for a midterm primary election, but turnout in five of the six Northern Panhandle counties exceeded the overall turnout average in West Virginia. Statewide there was a turnout rate of 20.91%, with 250,755 of 1,198,933 registered voters casting ballots. Topping the list locally was Tyler County at 34%, followed by Wetzel at 25.50%, Hancock at 23.69%, Marshall at 23.34% and Ohio at 22.57%. Brooke County’s turnout was lower at 17.38%.
