Weirton museum a blessing for the city

To the Editor, Often I hear, and see on the internet, folks lamenting the changes in Weirton. The mill is slowly disappearing, businesses are closing, and buildings crumbling. I agree, it is sad to see the past slowly disappearing. But things are renewing as well. On my recent visit to see family in Weirton, my mother and I visited a wonderful addition to the city — the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center. A warning for the future

To the Editor, I am sorry to report there are no ghosts or goblins or devil that has caused the upheaval in the world. It’s plain and simple. There are enough evil people in the world to end the world as we know it. It’s not a question of whether Trump is good or bad. He is neither. He is pure evil, with a case of delusional thoughts. Bringing a light of hope

To the Editor, Last Saturday, the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce held its first Christmas Luminary Night with Santa visiting neighborhoods, a drone flying overhead, and fireworks to cap off the night. To see so much of Weirton lit up in such splendor was uplifting after the year we have all endured. Over 7,500 luminaries were displayed within the city, not to mention the beautiful display in Country Club Estates. I cannot thank those enough who participated in our project. The piled snow did create a few issues, but the community as a whole, figured out how to make it work. ...

Organization helps greyhounds

To the Editor, I was disappointed to see Senator Ryan Weld misrepresent the work of my nonprofit organization when it comes to greyhound adoption. As a matter of fact, we have provided more than $250,000 to greyhound adoption groups since 2018, and are likely the largest funder of greyhound adoption worldwide. We have directly led efforts to rehome hundreds of greyhounds after tracks closed, including in Arizona in 2016 and in Macau in 2018. We are prepared to serve the same role in West Virginia when greyhound racing ends, and would be overjoyed to help find homes for all of ...

Christmas has returned

To the Editor, Thanks to Chad Hines for bringing back the Christmas decorations to the Flood mansion. As a child, my biggest part of Christmas was getting to go inside the front door and stand in the foyer waiting for Dr. Flood to come down and I gave him the present from our family. For many years the decorations were gone. We just talked about the giant Santa that was always in the yard and the beautiful decorations. Now thanks to a wonderful young couple, Christmas is back. What has happened to our country?

To the Editor, What’s happened to America? Why the reason the average person is not happy with being an American? How can some cuckoos on Fox News push the idea of a deep state peeking in our window and Trump’s dictatorial ideas better than democracy. Fox News’ big three, Carlson, Hannity and Ingaham may as well declare a revolution against everything we as a people stand up for in a democracy. Ben Franklin, when asked what the founders left us, having too much to drink, he replied “A republic, if you can hold.” Sorry Ben Franklin, democracy is the name of the game. ...
