Be an informed voter

To the Editor, Friends and neighbors and all those concerned about the outcome of the Nov. 3, 2020, election: The news media has been pointing out that “Sleepy Joe Biden” has 6 million more votes than Donald Trump. Trump claims this result was brought about because of massive voter fraud. Let us look at the facts and put all political caterwauling aside, which only serves to confuse. First of all, the popular vote is dwelt upon like a mother hen waiting for her chicks to hatch. Monitors dutifully report the number of votes registered in each state as the polls close. Election thoughts

To the Editor, Hallelujah! Decency, dignity, honor, respect, compassion and character won on the ballot for Joe Biden for the presidency. Promotion of hatred, divisiveness, lying, destruction and poison vitriol has been rejected of President Donald Trump by the majority of the American people. He lost the election. Biden won by a majority of 306 electoral votes and over 5 million more popular votes than Trump. Trump has set it up for months that the only way he could lose the election is if there was cheating by the Democrats with mail-in-ballots. He repeated this continuously as to ...

Disappointed in election

To the Editor, What a three-ring circus. People in this country don’t even know how to vote. I’ll bet those other countries are all having a good laugh. As far as I’m concerned, they need to go by the popular vote. Well, I won’t be around when the next presidential election is. Hope it goes better than this one. I wonder which one will be working from the nursing home. Florence Donley Weirton

Veteran banners bring pride

To the Editor, I would like to thank all those responsible for the Veterans Banner flags that are so proudly displayed throughout our city. To Mrs. Timothy Connell and her husband for taking care of providing the process to have the banners displayed, to those who hang and remove the banners and to the VFW who cleans and stores them over the winter. Thank you just doesn’t seem enough. Janice W. Moore Weirton

The dream is at risk

To the Editor, The great American dream is at risk for all our children of the world if Donald Trump tries to stay in power as a dictator. The Christians of the world should be elated. The election proved Jesus is alive and doing well. Defeated incumbent President Donald J. Trump’s legacy will wind up in the black hole of history. Steve Kopa Weirton

Learn more about diabetes

To the Editor, World Diabetes Day is on Nov. 14. One of the conditions that puts you at increased risk to get COVID 19 is diabetes. In West Virginia, more than one in eight adults (13%) have diabetes and one in four don’t know they’re diabetic. This is considered to be of epidemic proportions. West Virginia has the second highest rate of adult diabetes in the nation according to the CDC. There are several different types of diabetes. My comments focus on Type 2. Type 2 diabetes is preventable and can be reversed. Prevention involves losing weight; healthy eating; being active. ...
