Neighborhood in need of a deli

To the Editor, I see going on almost four years our deli has been closed down and turned into a storage building which should never be allowed. The people on Marland Heights need a deli, especially now that bad weather is coming on fast. Why should seniors be forced to go down the steep hill just to get a few things needed. It’s time our mayor and council step in and get this done. Plus it’s an employmant helper as well. I would love to see older seniors have a place they can go easily and get a few basic things needed instead of fighting the hill plus getting in trouble ...

Needing a better deal

To the Editor, Under President Trump, America is headed for a train wreck and is picking up speed. William Barr, attorney general, traveled across the ocean on some kind of cockeyed investigation of investigating the investigators of Russian collusion in the 2016 election to help Trump win. If he finds no collusion, but other crimes Trump and his cohorts committed, will he report it or cover it up for the president. Down throughout history, the time of reckoning comes to the just and unjust. We are in those times. Many are going to wake up on the wrong side of history and ...

UNICEF support appreciated

To the Editor, I would like to publicly thank the Weirton Shop and Save for allowing the Church Women United to collect for UNICEF outside their store on October 25. The money not only helps children in foreign countries, but the U.S. also. It can provide clean water and medicines in poor areas. I also want to thank the shoppers who graciously donated. Thank you, Delegate Swartzmiller

To the Editor, I just want to express publicly, my sincere thanks and gratitude to Hancock County Delegate Randy Swartzmiller, for all of his efforts in helping get Culler Road in Weirton paved. A road whose physical condition deteriorated over the last two years, has finally been completed. The paving situation took an unexpected twist when, late last year, it was discovered that Culler Road wasn’t on the paving schedule for 2018. In early December, I contacted Randy before he headed to Charleston. He told me he was already aware of the problem and was determined to focus on, not ...

McKinley takes on immigration issue

To the Editor, Hats off to Rep. McKinley for shining the light on the illegal invasion issue and none too soon. Our PA pals have recently promoted programs to encourage illegals to make PA their new home. Why should citizens of the Northern Panhandle care? The cost of living in the greater Pittsburgh area is higher than it is here, making our little slice of heaven the perfect destination. Most illegals do not speak English, have little marketable skills and drain social services at an unsustainable rate with a large part of the budget dedicated to supporting their baby ...

Some legacy

To the Editor, Germany left a legacy, Auschwitz and the symbolic Anne Frank. There was a Cambodian in Pol Pot’s tyranny. Surely a Rwandan Sih When Hutus massacred Tutsis. A Gabrielle Maria in Bosnia, Kosovo’s Christian Stefan and surely an Iris Cheng in the rape of Naking. Their pain was great, but no one heard their cries, of maybe we heard and closed our eyes. But of all these atrocities there’s one greater yet. It stands before a Christian nation. The courts did approve the right to choose. by 3,000, 100,000,000 dead. What a legacy we ...
