Weirton sets early voting period

WEIRTON — The City of Weirton has scheduled its early voting dates for city’s primary election on April 2.

Registered voters interested in taking part in the city’s early voting period may do so at the Weirton City Building from March 20 to March 30, with the exception of Sundays.

Early voting will be conducted in Room 212, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 20-22 and March 25-29, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 23 and March 30.

Candidates appearing on the primary election ballot are:

• Mayor: Harold “Bubba” Miller and George Village

• Ward 1: Jonathan Curenton, Tim Connell and George G. Brandenburg

• Ward 2: Mike Adams and Ralph Cunningham

• Ward 3: Fred S. Marsh

• Ward 4: George E. Ash Sr.

• Ward 5: Jesse G. Lamone, George J. Charnie Jr., Flora M. Perrone, Jonathan Reitter and Richard K. Ford

• Ward 6: Enzo Fracasso

• Ward 7: Terry Weigel and Shanon Schuetzner

In order to vote in the primary election, eligible voters must ensure they are registered with their county clerks no later than March 12. Voter registration also can be completed online through the West Virginia Secretary of State’s website.

On election day, voting will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

In addition to early voting, the city has applications available for absentee voting by mail. Applications are at the city clerk’s office and on the city’s website at The deadline to submit applications is March 27.

Absentee voting by mail is for registered voters unable to vote on election day or during the early voting period because of physical illness, disability or hospitalization, absence from the city for personal or business travel, military service or college attendance, or incarceration with the exception of a felony conviction.
