Fraternal Order of Police presents scholarships

Representatives of the Fraternal Order of Police, Weirton Lodge 84, on Thursday, presented the FOP's annual scholarship to four local high school graduates. Pictured, from left, are Tony Apesos Jr. and David Scheetz; Randy Kernen, FOP secretary; Troy Bickers, FOP vice president; Brian Beatty, FOP president; and Jilian Reardon and Mickayla Cook. Reardon, an Oak Glen graduate, will be attending West Liberty University to study elementary education; Cook, a Weir High graduate, will attend West Virginia Northern Community College to study nursing; Scheetz, a Weir High graduate, will attend Westminster College to study chemistry; and Apesos, a Brooke High graduate, will attend WVNCC to study nursing. In order to receive the scholarship, a graduating student must be either a son or daughter of a member of FOP 84. — Craig Howell
