Toronto Sunrise Seniors hold May meeting

TORONTO — President Barbara Pritts welcomed members of the Toronto Sunrise Seniors to the May 24 meeting at Karaffa Recreation Center.

Vice President Sandi Radvansky gave the blessing for the covered-dish meal. Following dinner, Pritts thanked the kitchen committee of Marsha McConnell, Bob and Mary Lou Deku, Nancy Bodrog and David DeVore.

Following the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, Secretary Laura Sheets read a summary of the May 10 Mother’s Day and Father’s Day banquet.

Special thanks were extended to Mayor John Parker and his wife, Tracey, as well as to Don Clark and his wife, Cheryl, for their donation of gift cards.

Assistant Treasurer Carol Rogers gave the financial report to be filed for audit.

Social Secretary Marlene Garrett announced those having a May birthday or anniversary. Two members were remembered under the health report.

Members of the kitchen committee for June are Joe and Sandi Radvansky, Hank and Laura Sheets and Marion Ellen Marion.

Pritts reminded members of the upcoming trip “Titanic, the Musical,” on June 23.

The bus will leave the high school stadium parking lot at noon and return by 7 p.m.

Those in attendance were informed of other activities for the group, including Wednesday card games, puzzles, books and socializing opportunities.

Under new business, a discussion took place about the need for a new refrigerator and the time of the Christmas celebration.

Phyllis Smith was recognized as member of the month.

Those in attendance participated in a Memorial Day trivia game, where the winner was Betty Mossor. Winners of the 50/50 drawing were Brenda Fetty and Candi Murphy.

Following brag time and a graduation joke, the meeting adjourned and members played many games of bingo. Winners for the evening included: Mary Lou Emery, Smith, McConnell, Lucy Timko, Marion, Frank Marino, Ethel Stevens and Mossor.

The next meeting will be held June 14.

Any senior citizen aged 55 or older and residing in Ohio, is welcome to attend.
