To the Editor, Senator Manchin, this is not the end. Now that you’re experiencing vilification, vile attacks on your person and on the proud people of West Virginia, this is only the beginning. Let me first say I’m very proud of your “no” vote on Build Back Better. What’s forthcoming, I believe, is obvious. Chamber appreciates support for Christmas lights

To the Editor, Many years ago the Weirton Steel Corporation gifted The Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce with the community Christmas Lights that they used to decorate and illuminate the city for the holidays. We are honored to be able to carry on the tradition of the Christmas Lights display that they started for everyone to enjoy each Christmas season. The repair and installation of the Christmas lights has always been contributed to by the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club and the Chamber of Commerce volunteers and they are the reason the lights are so beautiful this year. To the Editor, As the sister of a United employee, I am appalled at the treatment of my loved one at the hands of CEO Scott Kirby. While Mr. Kirby has every right to institute his Covid vaccine mandate, he is also obligated to allow reasonable accommodations for the faithful and those whose medical providers object. United’s answer is indefinite, unpaid leave for anyone seeking an accommodation, a far cry from reasonable this holiday season. To the editor: There always is a way to poison the public’s mind with today’s technology. The powers that be have made it legal to defend any objectionable words, thoughts or ideas as freedom of speech. How objectionable is former President Donald J. Trump? A misrepresentation of a scheme in real time which is a lie should be reported as a lie and should not be defended as the truth. To the editor: Memories. Memories of a loved one gone. That was the message minister Tom Derby delivered at the remembrance memorial service at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home last Sunday evening. Keep your memories alive and talk often of your loved one, remembering the good qualities they had and also the not-so-pleasant ones, for this is what gets you through your grief. To the editor: In recent years, it has become rather fashionable for women—mainly celebrities, naturally, in the name of awareness and inspiring others—to proudly brag about having had an abortion. Most, seemingly, in their youthful salad days, before their fame. Some were apparently after celebrity, however, when they could presumably have afforded any and all contraceptive measures available.
