Draconian measures don’t help

To the Editor, What I am about to write may seem a little inhumane, but has happened throughout history to save humanity from war, disease and other catastrophic events. Just think what it has taken to make America the greatest nation in civilization. Lincoln, some say the greatest president of all, commanded an army that sacrificed 600,000 lives to save the union. Franklin D. Roosevelt, WWII, Iwo Jima, 7,000 Marines dead, another 20,000 wounded and the Great Depression. Resilience. We have recovered from too many difficulties to surrender our way of life to a virus. Whatever ...

Global economy not an excuse

To the Editor, There’s nothing wrong with building a solar farm on Brown’s Island (“International companies aren’t the enemy.”) Our community may have a deep history in steelmaking, but it isn’t the only industry out there, and the author is right. Investment and development bring jobs, and we need them right now. He’s wrong, however, to suggest that taking issue with this solar farm’s equipment supplier is misinformed economic nationalism. Trinity’s Mission is carried forward by all employees who support and render direct patient care services. “Where health comes first” is the theme of this year’s American Hospital Association’s National Hospital Week. It runs today through Saturday and recognizes all those who serve community members in meeting their health and wellness needs. I am honored ...

Biden not up to the task

To the Editor, In February, Trump asked for funding to fight COVID-19; House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ignored him, flooring instead a frivolous bill, banning flavored tobaccos. She later, naturally, accused him of not taking COVID-19 seriously enough. As Americans suffered financially under this pointless lockdown, as if the Coronavirus stimulus bill wasn’t typically “porky” enough, Pelosi stalled, tacking on more pork and payoffs, for Democrat cronies, and illegals. Millions of that was rolled over, into “donations” (wink) from those cronies, to the DNC. These people don’t ...
