Gittings right choice for sheriff

To the Editor, During the past year in which I’ve come to know Scott Gittings, I’ve recognized merits in Scott befitting a man seeking the office of sheriff of Hancock County. As such, Gittings is a quiet, unassuming devoted family man with superb qualities needed of a sheriff. A large man physically, Gittings projects an air of equanimity and a quiet confidence needed for a demanding position in our county. Moreover, Gittings is well-suited for the task. Postponed event stills helps TEAR Fund

To the Editor, The 10th-annual Campbell-Dickinson 5K, the Noah Long Kid’s 1K and the St. Baldrick’s Shave Off scheduled for March 21 were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The events will be rescheduled in August or September. The Campbell-Dickinson 5K Committee would like to thank businesses large and small, organizations, churches and individuals that donated to the fund raiser for the Teramana Cancer Center TEAR Fund and to the Toronto Coalition for Revitalization. COVID-19 prayers needed

To the Editor, I believe in science. The health and safety guidelines established by the doctors advising President Trump recommended good practices to thwart the spread of the coronavirus. In our area, we are lucky to have minimal cases of COVID-19. I greatly appreciate local businesses that have made arrangements to establish many safety measures for us shoppers and patrons. That is a lot of extra work for essential workers to do. Also there was much extra work in keeping the businesses re-stocked with products. To the Editor, In the 1973 movie “Papillon, a true story that starred Steve McQueen, convict Henri Chamere — Papillon — on one of his many escapes from prison stumbles upon a leper colony. One leper offers Papillon a puff on his cigar. To the Editor, And here we go, since President Donald Trump is so fond of giving nicknames I intend to write this letter using various nicknames for him. Throughout “Dumb Corleone’s” campaign and three years into his term, he has proven himself to be immoral and idiotic. Here, for your perusal, are some examples: Trump University, fraud, a $25 million settlement, shut down; stealing from veterans' charities, a $2 million fine; self-dealing "theft" from St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital; asking for and accepting help from Russia in his political campaign; and no fewer than ...
