What is being hidden?

To the Editor, I am a 1969 graduate of and taught/coached from 1973 through 1979 at Weir High School. It is despicable that the removal of the Logo has been secretly going on for some time. State Code may have been violated due to the manner in which the Logo change was implemented. The explanation article in the 5/18/21 Weirton Daily Times leaves uncertainty as to the exact next steps to be taken to keep Weir High School’s Logo and is an attempt to gloss over this issue. Master Gardeners appreciate support

To the Editor, The members of Tri-State Area Master Gardeners Association (TAMGA) would like to extend our appreciation to the gardeners of the area for braving the cold, wind and hail storm to attend our annual fundraising Plant Share last Saturday. We thank Gabriel’s in Weirton for allowing us to use the grassy area beside their parking lot for our Plant Share year after year on the day before Mother’s Day. Don’t make mistakes on nuclear deals

To the Editor, Hopefully President Biden will make nuclear deals with Iran and North Korea. However, it is equally to be hoped that he does not repeat the fatal flaw of the first Iran deal: It imposed a waiting period for the inspection of suspected sites. This would have allowed them to move the materials for making a nuclear weapon—such as enriched uranium—to a second site during the waiting period for the first site; then when the second site would come under suspicion, it would have a waiting period during which the material could be moved to a third site; and so on. ...

Reasons to leave our shores

To the Editor, Pat Buchanan and some other scholars are preaching the rationale that we have no vital interests beyond the borders of the United States. But we the people would like to know if we go fight and die for the oil fields that yonder lie, does it make it right to leave our shores for the oil beneath the earth? Bringing hope to Weirton

To the Editor, We have hope. On April 26, 2021, we had cake and ice cream to celebrate a milestone. We also had a wholesome free meal at the Table of Hope. The Table of Hope has been serving the Weirton community for nine years. Table of Hope offers free dinners to anyone who comes to Weirton First United Methodist Church located at 3301 West St. on Mondays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Originally, Table of Hope served every weekday, but because of COVID only serves on Mondays. Why are we asking this? WAMCC exists to “preserve our history and culture for future generations.” It is our job to care for and track the condition of the objects that come to us.
